Take Route 510 (Mendham Road) west for approximately 10 miles. You will pass through the town of Mendham. Turn
After Mendham, turn right (north) onto Ironia Road. Stay on Ironia Road: Keep left to remain on Ironia Road. Continue for about 3 miles. Destination: Look for the entrance to India Brook Park on your right, just before reaching South Road.

Park in the designated parking lot at India Brook Park. This is a newly constructed lot and provides ample space for visitors. From the parking area, walk approximately 150 feet up the road to a sharp bend. Here, you will find the trailhead and kiosk on the right-hand side.

Trail Directions to Buttermilk Falls: Trail Start

Begin at the kiosk and follow the white-blazed trail . The trail initially runs alongside a soccer field. Forest Entry
Continue along the trail until you reach the far-left back corner of the field, where the trail enters the forest. Descent: Follow the steep trail downhill toward India Brook. Brook Intersection: When the trail meets India Brook, turn right and walk approximately 500 feet. You will arrive at Buttermilk Falls. The swimming hole is located at the base of the falls. Optional Loop Trail: If you wish to explore further, turn around at the falls and follow the white-blazed trail north along India Brook. Continue upstream until the trail makes a left turn uphill. At the top of the hill, you will pass through a field and by the old Seeing Eye dog training facility. Follow the paved road back to the parking lot to complete the loop.
