Follow SD-83 for about 36 miles to reach the city of Pierre. As you approach Pierre, turn west (left) onto US Highway 34/14 (also known as Wells Avenue). Drive a short distance on US-34/14, about 2 miles, and then turn north (right) onto South Dakota Highway 1806 (SD-1806). Continue on SD-1806 for about 5 miles, following signs for the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area. Landmarks and Final Approach: As you drive north on SD-1806, you’ll cross the Missouri River. Shortly after crossing, look for signage directing you to the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area. The entrance to the recreation area will be on your left.
